04.02.08 SMS announces its participation in The Ohio Network of Healthcare Assurance Companies Quarterly Meeting.

SMS in sponsorship with Platform Labs, of Columbus Ohio, is presenting at The Ohio Network of Healthcare Assurance Companies quarterly meeting.  John Kimberly, Senior Consultant from SMS, will be presenting on the topic: "Virtualization: Securing the Virtual Network" to all attendees, on May 1, 2008.

02.08.08 SMS National Announces the opening of our 29th Service Center in Columbus, Ohio.

SMS has opened facility number 29 in Columbus, Ohio in support of our many customers and partners in that area. Jim Kleeman, CEO of SMS says: “Not only does this represent an additional commitment to the Ohio Market, but it reinforces our corporate goal of being local to 90% of the U.S. Market.” SMS currently has Service Centers in Cleveland/Akron, Columbus and Cincinnati.

SMS West successfully delivers Cisco support to major retailer having over 200 locations.

SMS has added Cisco support to the 200th location of a major retailer.  Citing the extraordinary savings found in SMS Cisco support the customer is continuing to expand our in store presence.

01.08.08 SMS National Announces the opening of our 28th Service Center in Nashville, TN.

SMS has opened facility number 28 in Nashville, TN in support of a strategic enterprise account with data centers in that location.  Jim Kleeman, CEO of SMS says: "This represents our commitment to the national market and our Enterprise Accounts who need our cost effective and responsive support in SMS expansion locations. "

12.24.07 SMS Houston successfully completes another Fortune 500 data center move involving 116 servers!

SMS engineers, working closely with the customer's IT department, successfully moves 116 servers over the Christmas holidays.

09.18.07 SMS announces HP Proliant Systems Integration contract for National Retailer.

SMS offers a variety of cost effective staging, installation and test services for both pre-owned and new equipment. One of our retail accounts has selected SMS to install their technical infrastructure as new stores are added.

09.10.07 SMS announces its Customer Delight award based on customer satisfaction scores.

Customers continue to choose SMS for their data center upgrades citing both cost effectiveness as well as process management depth.

08.08.07 SMS wins major Windows 2003 upgrades for IBM blade servers.

SMS continues to expand it's professional and technical services offerings by delivering highly technical migration services to our customers who are using blade server technologies.

08.07.07 SMS wins a major upgrade to existing retail account.

SMS continues to increase its presence in the retail vertical by delivering more responsive and higher quality and lower cost support than HP or Dell. For this contract, SMS saved the customer $147,000 annually.

07.09.07 SMS announces support for Cisco WAN/LAN devices.

SMS continues its aggressive strategy in Data Center Support by adding Cisco WAN/LAN products to the product lines that it supports.  SMS will resell Cisco Smartnet to customers who need support from the Cisco TAC as well as IOS upgrades.  Customers who have EOL or EOSL Cisco products for which Cisco Smartnet is not available can maximize the useful life of this product with a SMS support Contract.

 

05.03.07 SMS to Present at Hewlett-Packard Technology Forum 2007

SMS has been asked to present Non-Eventful Data Center Relocations – It’s more than just a box move. Many companies are reaching their data center capacity limits or need an alternate site for high-availability and DR but they have limited experience planning and executing a large relocation project. This session will help them think about all of the aspects of a major relocation.


04.11.07 SMS Announces a Complete Support Solution for the HP3000

SMS has begun support the HP3000  and MPE in order to continue to expand our "support the entire data center" model.  Now our customers continue to keep their HP3000 for as long as they choose, and for as long as they see the system deliver a business benefit.

 

02.14.07 Technical Release 466 – Daylight Savings Time Patches

Field engineers should be aware that congress passed a bill in 2005 that changed the Daylight Savings Time adjustment starting this year. Under the bill, Americans in the 48 states that currently observe daylightsaving time (Arizona and Hawaii don't) would move their clocks ahead by an hour starting on the second Sunday of March, rather than the first Sunday of April.
 

02.12.07 Mark Murawski joins SMS as Director of Professional Services

Mark joins the SMS management team as Director of Professional services. As Director of Professional Services, Mark will be responsible for adding larger scale service capabilities to SMS’s current service portfolio. Previously, Mark was a Senior Vice President at MHA Consulting, Inc. While at MHA, Murawski helped develop data center strategy services and disaster recovery offerings for Fortune 500 companies.

02.06.07 SMS Announces its support of the EMC CLARiiON

Continuing its expansion through the Data Center, SMS announces its support of the EMC CLARiiON as well as the Dell CLARiiON storage devices.  This adds another OEM product line to a very aggressive product expansion to cover the Data Center.

 

12.28.06 SMS Opens a New Service Center in Jacksonville Florida

SMS has opened facility number 27 in Jacksonville Florida in support of our customers in that area. Jim Kleeman, CEO of SMS says: “Not only does this represent an additional commitment to the Florida Market, but it reinforces our corporate goal of providing 2 hour response times to 90% of the U.S. Market.” SMS currently has Service Centers in Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville service customers with 4 hour response times.

12.21.06 SMS Announces upgrades to SMS All-Inclusive Service

SMS has added two security options to its popular All-Inclusivetm Service to accommodate the destruction of assets leaving your premises. These assets are destroyed in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations after which you will receive a detailed Settlement Report verifying the assets were received, tracked, overwritten, reformatted or destroyed. Service fees are a line item to your current Monthly Maintenance Charges.

10.11.06  Vince Cavell Joins SMS as Assistant to the Chairman

Vince joins SMS from Harris Corp where he served as the President of the Advertising Solutions Group (ASG). Prior to Harris, Vince served as CEO of Premier Systems Integrators, LLC. Premier was a $120M systems integration firm that provided network and enterprise systems solutions for mission critical applications. Premier was sold to Dimension Data, Inc in 2001.

03.11.06 Jim Kleeman Joins SMS as CEO

As CEO of SMS, Jim Kleeman will be responsible for the strategic direction of SMS as well as acquisition and growth strategies for the 25 year old company. Says Kleeman, "It is my goal to extend the reach of SMS so that 90% of the U.S. market can be served by us in under 2 hours. Unlike the major OEMs, SMS is investing heavily in geographic expansion with Service Centers, sales and technical expertise. This presents a tremendous opportunity for a high level of service to our customers, afforded by their low cost; high quality; approach to delivery of maintenance."

02.04.06 Frontenac Completes SMS Acquisition

Frontenac Co. has announced its acquisition of SMS Systems Maintenance Services Inc., a provider of mission-critical maintenance for computer hardware. While terms of the transaction were not disclosed, Chicago-based Frontenac typically invests between $20 million and $40 million of equity in its platform acquisitions.

Equity for the transaction came from Frontenac VIII LP, a vintage-2000 fund that closed on $560 million. Merrill Lynch Capital provided senior debt financing for the transaction. Typical purchase price multiples for mid-market IT services companies often fall between 8x to 10x EBITDA.
