Don Doctor, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Don Doctor has been Chairman and CEO of SMS, LLC since 2005. Don’s mandate is to position SMS as a market leading “Service Maintenance Integrator” delivering a blend of professional services and multi-vendor hardware services to meet the growing demands of highly complex and distributed IT environments.

Prior to joining SMS, Don served as Chairman and CEO of Encoda Systems, a global provider of back-office solutions for the media industry with over 1,000 staff world-wide. In three years, Don turned the company around from break-even to over 25% operating margins. This led to a successful acquisition by Harris Corporation in 2004.

Before Encoda, Don was the co-founder of Premier Systems Integrators in 1991, a leading service provider of integrated information and communication technology. In ten years Premier grew from a start-up to over 200 employees and $150M in revenue.

Joe Scordino, President

Joe Scordino has been President of SMS, LLC since 2005.  Joe’s mandate is to continue SMS’s impressive revenue growth through a combination of strategic partnerships, traditional sales channels, and direct relationships with major end user clients.  Growth the past two years has exceeded 25%.

Joe has been a SMS employee since 1986, and has held a variety of senior management positions for the past ten years.  Prior to becoming President he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  Joe spent much of his early years at SMS building the company’s extensive network of service center locations, and building those locations to profitability as rapidly as possible.

Joe resides in the Atlanta area and holds a bachelors degree in Marketing from Boston College, and a MBA from Northeastern University.

Joel L. Owens, President, IBM Enterprise Division

Joel Owens joined Systems Maintenance Services subsequent to the acquisition of the hardware maintenance division of his company, Top Gun Technology in November of 2009. As the President of the IBM Enterprise Division, Joel's responsibility is to guide business strategy so the company consistently delivers superior maintenance support services for clients with IBM systems. Service delivery and client satisfaction are his primary objectives.

Joel brings to SMS more than 20 years of experience in leading IBM engineering and sales teams to deliver repeatable and reliable maintenance services to our clients.

Prior to joining SMS, he was a founder of QualTech Services Group, QSGI and Top Gun Technology.

Joel resides in Prior Lake, MN with his wife Jolene and sons Anthony, Nicholas and Charlie.

Greg Hoogerland, Chief Technology Officer

Greg Hoogerland joined SMS as its Chief Technology Officer in 2008. As SMS’s CTO he is accountable to drive both product development and strategy necessary to deliver upon our “Service Maintenance Integrator” charter.

Greg previously worked for SunGard Availability Services, most recently as the Vice President of Product Development and prior to that, the Vice President of Central Engineering and Enterprise Management for SunGard. While at SunGard, Greg was responsible for driving automation and many other efficiencies in engineering and service delivery. Greg’s work experience includes, CIO for a multinational electronics firm, COO, and CTO roles in the managed services and hosting industry, after starting his career in public accounting, and the financial services industries.

Greg brings to SMS a track record of innovation in service delivery and service development.

Steve Favory, Chief Financial Officer

Steve Favory is the Chief Financial Officer and joined SMS in 2005. Steve’s responsibilities include logistics, human resources, oversight of all internal and external financial reporting, financial planning, banking/insurance relationships, financial controls, accounting, tax, and treasury. In addition, he plays a key role in the development and execution of the corporation’s strategic growth plan.

Prior to SMS, Steve was the Chief Financial Officer with two $100 million plus software and service IT companies; Encoda Systems for five years and Premier Systems Integrators for 2 years.

Previously, he spent 10 years as president, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer of Mitek Corporation, a $200 million international consumer electronic manufacturer, and 9 years as an international consultant and auditor on emerging business services with Deloitte.

Vince Cavell, Executive Vice President

Vince joined the SMS Board of Directors in September 2006. His objective is to develop and execute the SMS growth strategy for the Eastern US, and establish SMS as a leading “Service Maintenance Integrator” providing solutions to clients ranging from the mid-market to Fortune 500 corporations.

Prior to joining SMS, Vince served as President of Encoda Advertising Solutions Group, a global provider of back-office solutions for the Advertising industry. This operation was included in the acquisition by Harris Corporation in 2004.

Prior to joining Encoda, Vince was the CEO of Premier Systems Integrators, a leading service provider of integrated information and communication technology. Premier was successfully sold to Dimension Data in 2001.

Before moving to Premier Systems, Vince enjoyed a 21 year career at Hewlett Packard, where he last served as the Vice President of HP’s Channel Operation in the Americas.

Jim Kleeman, Executive Vice President

Jim has been Executive Vice President of SMS with extensive background in Information Technology, Strategic Planning, and Sales Management. He is leading Regional Teams in the execution of SMS Strategic Plan. This includes geographical expansion, product expansion, partnerships, and Professional Services. In accomplishing these objectives, SMS will be the “Market Leader.”

Prior Jim was VP/GM for Avnet, Inc. a $16B Technology and Electronic distributor. Founder /Managing Partner of Gemma Companies, Partner of Telesys Communications, a telecommunications integrator. In addition, he was Principal/Founder of Vector Technology in 1990, a full service solutions provider. With revenues of $80M and 148 employees, it was acquired by Expanets in 1999. He spent two years assisting with the integration of the companies. With this broad background and experience, he will be able to meet the demands of SMS.

Jim graduated from Loras College in 1975 and holds a B.S. in Business and Industrial Psychology.
